Where To Study

When deciding to go for course training, one must consider where to do the training. Formal education in South Africa is categorised according to three levels:
  •              General Education and Training
  •              Further Education and Training (FET)
  •              Higher Education (HE)
Once you know which course you want to study, that knowledge will help you ascertain where you can study it. Depending on the nature of the course and qualification, you will have to choose between university and a FET college. University courses are for formal industries such as medicine and law for instance. FET courses are job-related courses aiming at preparing students to be able to enter the job market immediately after obtaining their qualifications. FET courses aim to prepare you for a specific career and focus on skills and training to help students to be job-ready when they leave college. FET colleges also offer courses to help develop your skills, as you may need them. Another point to consider when choosing where to study your desired course will be if the course provider is an accredited teaching provider. Accredited training providers lists as such through a Quality Assurance body (ETQA), who issues them with an accreditation number. The provider is then required to have each of their programmes accredited with the ETQA to prove alignment to a particular qualification or unit standard or set of unit standards. Always choose reliable and accredited training providers.   The best way to enter any training programme is with a positive attitude and a hunger for success and knowledge. Be ready to explore your options and make a better future for you. Self-development can be very rewarding, no matter what the drive behind it is. Be ready to be surprised and get the reward – start today to study a course that will give you the power to excel.
